usually a stripe like this means its from fm or tv. some ppl can tell exactly by looking at the frequency. the frequency response also seems to indicate this is from a broadcast. on the bright side, it doesn't look lossy. does it sound like a sbd?

If it really is from a cassette, the problem may be the soundcard used.

Many inexpensive or onboard cards create artifacts in the audible range.
Can be internal clock interference or other induced noise as well. Cheap
cables used between the deck and computer may be poorly shielded and
picking up stray noise also.

You can see this easily by capturing from a blank tape. There is no inherent
"stripe" in a cassette recording.

Hundreds of ways to get noise into an otherwise decent signal.......

Re: opinions on this one with dreaded 16 khz stripe

I also have a recording with a 16 kHz stripe, but it also has a stripe around 18,5 kHz.

All info about source is:
sbd or broadcast ? > ???? > cd-r > eac > wav > dbpoweramp > flac

Can I savely say this is FM sourced?

PS. I hope it's okay I put it in this thread..
