AVCHD - smooth editing?

AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition)

and all the other HD formats.....

are there recommended progs available with frame to frame editing, encoding for DVDs/Blu-Rays etc.? newer Sony Vegas maybe? any experienced filmers, editors, authorers could help here please?

so those newer versions of the mentioned progs can handle the "newer" formats smoothly? frame to frame editing possible (just like with DV)?

as far as i know yeah...some natively, and some which "convert" [like FCP to Apple ProRes]...should have no issue with noticeable quality loss tho

New version of Final Cut says it can do AVCHD native tho I can't speak from experience

Vegas does it native also. That one is my choice. Dvd architect to author your blurays.

would something that was converted to apple prores and then converted to dvd be allowed here? i'm about to start work on a multi-cam show with someone and he wants to do it on system which is apple and he mentioned that he already had his files converted to prores.

i don't see why not...this type of conversion occurs all the time in the video production world, very different from the "file conversions" we frown upon

FCP is F%&*kd sony vegas pro 11 works like its meant to
