Seeding question

ATT recently changed my router and I have tried everything to open my ports, but this router is not user friendly. My question is, can I use both a modem and router together and will I be able to upload at an acceptable speed and also, I need the router for my other devices.

Re: Seeding question

Maybe others have had a positive experience with the new combo router/ modems being offered by your isp. Not me... My provider gave me a new modem/ router a while back (Cisco). Unlike my old unit, it had the wifi built into the modem. I tried everything and I could not get the ports to open. I called my isp and they told me it is possible to "bridge" to my old wifi router (the one that I was able to get open ports). They were apologetic and asked me to come down and swap out the their "new and improved" modem for an older model - one with no built in router. It was a hassle, but worth it in the long run.

If you don't have one already, you can pick up a cheap wifi router (D-Link or whatever). Instructions for bridging were easy and it worked like a charm. See if C/S will help. If not, then time to look for a new isp. Good luck!

Re: Seeding question

I may just do that. The router I have is just to difficult to open the ports. Thanks
