Best BT Client

TTD recomends the following BitTorrent Software:

Azureus (Finally got it installed and running - pretty cool so far)
TorrentSpy (Never used)
g3torrent (Never used)
BitTornado (Used for a long time but giving Azureus)
BitConjurer (Started out but switched to BitTornado)
Another BitTorrent Client (Never used)

All in all - what is considered the best????

I think you mean TorrentStorm. TorrentSpy is useful, too.

IMO

I think Azereus is the best, but for some reason my system chokes on Java. CPU runs way too high.

TorrentStorm is the next best thing.

ABC is okay, not quite as good as TorrentStorm.

I used BitTornado/Shad0w's a while back and that was pretty good. In fact, TorrentStorm uses BitTornado so I am still using it.

I'm curious about other clients, what are you guys using?

Re: Best BT Client

I seem to have Java issues with my machine running Azureus as well.
BitTornado is what I use.

Azureus really slowed my computer down. I like ABC a lot.

Re: Best BT Client

I use Azureus, but it's true that the fact that it runs inside of a Java runtime will slow the computer down a bit. My second choice would be G3Torrent, and if I couldn't run java on my computer smoothly, that's what I'd choose.

Re: Best BT Client

I never had a problem with Shad0w. But then JamToThis installed a new tracker and I can't use it there for my VH fix (got a 'you must upgrade' error). But I still use it everywhere else.

So I tried BitComent, but I got 'stop hammering the tracker' errors at ezt. It seems that is a known issue with no workaround, so out it goes.

BitTornado site has been down for over 2 months, so I don't have that. But that was my upgrade choice, based on recommendations at ro and my good luck with Shad0w.

So Shad0w it is , for now...

Re: Best BT Client

Is there something about Windows or the Intel architecture that makes Java such an issue ? Azureus usually uses about 10-12% CPU on my eMac and even my lowly 350mHz iMac doesn't seem any slower when it's running, though it'd be hard to notice.

there is something funny with the BitTornado site... I just went there and firefox couldn't download anything. The torrents won't work, but I managed to download the stable and unstable versions to my desktop using my download manager.

here's a link to a good freeware download manager:
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm

here's the links I just used to successfully download the two most recent versions of BitTornado:

EXPERIMENTAL:
T-0.3.10
http://download.bittornado.com/downl...w32install.exe

STABLE:
T-0.3.7
http://download.bittornado.com/downl...w32install.exe

Re: Best BT Client

I just started using Azureus yesterday (finally got the panel in English). I have not seen any slowness and pretty cool to use (even though I have no idea what half they shit it is telling me)

Re: Best BT Client

I'm a huge Azureus fan. It also killed the desktop I used to use, but when I got my new notebook I got a pretty good processor (1.8 GHz) and I loaded it up with 1 GB of RAM. Now I can run Azureus along with other programs with no slowdown at all.

Re: Best BT Client

I used shadow for my first year or so....then went to Azureus last Sep/Oct. I love Azureus. Great to have just one window, lots of info, easy to get details with a few clicks. If you need to reboot, just close the window and and when it's reopened, it recalls what torrents were open.

Have never had any slowdown issues with Azureus.

The interface is nice - like lostboy said, great to have everything in one nice little window.
