help in digitize my VHS Video collection (many master - mainly Jazz, but also some cool Rock music

Hello all,

right now, I am at checking thru my big collection of VHS Videos. Can only do this, by looking thru' my list (which is not up to date, nut mainly), because I do not have a Video recorder anymore.

So, all my VHS Videos are standing here unused and without any use for me anymore.

All together, I speak of more or less 170 Video cassettes !!!

As a small appetizer, here is a tad bit of what is in the collection (as said, just a tad small appetizer

McCoy Tyner Trio, feat. Chico Freeman (sax) : 06/29/01 : Salzau `Jazz Baltica’
Steve Wynn & The Miracle 3 : 2001 : Kön Subway
The European Jazz Ensemble : 02/09/01 : Dinslaken Stadthalle’
Martin Wind Dreikland, feat. Nguyen Le : 06/15/97 : Salzau Jazz Baltica’
Dave Holland Prime Directive : 10/22/99 : Frankfurt Deutsches Jazzfestival
Gianna Nannini : 06/03/99 : Köln Roncalliplatz Rockpalast
Klaus Doldinger Passport : 1996 : Nürnberg
Gianluigi Trovesi Octet : 1994 : Nürnberg Jazz Ost/West Festival
Page & Plant - 08/23/98 : Köln Bizarre Festival
Widespread Panic : 07/21/98 : Loreley Rockpalast + Interview
Pat Metheny : 1998 : Baden Baden Ohne Filter
Charlie Mariano : 07/97 : Stuttgart Jazz Open (last song incomplete)
Joe Cocker : 1996 : Baden Baden Ohne Filter’
Gerd Dudek & Friends : 05/14/99 : Firmenich
Steve Wynn & Band : 10/18/99 : Leverkusen
Dave Liebman Quartet : 17.4.00 : Köln Subway
Tony Joe White : 1992 : Baden Baden Ohne Filter
Esbjörn Svensson Trio : 06/12/99 : Salzau
Ulf Wakenuis Project : 06/09/00 : Salzau
Johnny Griffin, Roman Schwaller, Paul Heller : Three Generations Of Saxophone 03/21/00 Köln
James Hurt (Piano solo) : 03/02/98 Köln
Ezio & Band : 12/19/98 : Düsseldorf
Brian Adams : 05/99 : Nürnberg Rock Im Park
Fritz Renold & The Bostonian Friends, feat. Randy Brecker : 05/94 : Bern
Roger Hodgson (solo) : 05/23/98 : Nürnberg Rock Im Park
NDR Big Band, feat. Inga Rumpf (Plays The Music of Jimi Hnedrix) : 05/96 : Burghausen
Dave King Group, feat. Billy Cobham- 05/03/00 : Köln
Kühn, Joachim (solo) : 03/13/01 : Köln
George Shearing (p) + Neil Swainson (b) : 1992 : München
Bob Mintzer Big Band : 1987 : Berlin
Larry Coryell-g/Birelli Lagrene-g/Aladar Pege-bass : 1994 : Köln
Baker Gurvitz Army : 1975 : Studio-Live-Konzert

Some of them Videos recordings, I have digitized the Audio and FLAC'd it, years ago (some I have shared the AUDIO, years ago), but I have never digitized the Video (pic and Audio), because I never had the tools to do this.

Now I think about, what to do with all those for me useless Video cassettes
It's a pity, just to throw them away, because I have collected many many Masters, that I have recorded over many years from German TV.
Mostly Jazz music, but also some cool Rock concerts.
LOTS OF VHS MASTERS!!!

Some might have been released officially in the meantime, some might have been shared from other recordings on DIME or here (better or bader quality, who knows...)
But some recordings might have been shared never at all...

I can not digitize the stuff, not even have a Videorecorder anymore.
But I just do not want to throw all those Videocassettes away.

So, I'm am looking for a person, who has the ability and skills to digitize these Videos recordings.
But please only a person who really knows what he/she is doing, so that the result will be really worth the work (remember, these are mainly MASTERS!!)

Most preferably, some guy from GERMANY (possibly also from somewhere else in Europe), because of the outrageous high German Postage costs sending parcels and/or big packages

If you are intested, please write me a mail.

I have attached a copy of the list.
But beware, the list is a bit of a mess, you need some time to ceck thru' it, but of course, you can always ask if you need some special infos ...
List is more or less complete.

Would be cool, someone would be offer his/her help...

Cheers

Baker Gurvitz Army : 1975 : Studio-Live-Konzert

This one has been officially released, so maybe little point in doing that.

You could probably find a VCR for super cheap in your area, then if you have a half-decent computer you just need a capture card or some way of going from RCA cables to USB. Lots of free software that can capture video.

I'm no expert on this stuff but I think its pretty easy to do these days.

yes, might be one solution.
But, I say it like I think it is:
Super cheap VCR = might be average to under-average result of pic and audio.
And I really do not have the skills, not the money and not the time to prepare my PC for recording that stuff onto the HD (cature card, specail cables and all ...)
No, I really like to give this in the hands of a person (or persons) who knows what he's doing to get out the best possible results

Utherwise I just let it stand here and there comes the day, I just litter all those cassettes ... sad as it is

no, this was not my intension; not at all.
Fact is, that I need the space, earlier or later.
This is a private situation, I don't want to go into it right now and/or here.
And if no one can digitize this Masters, I have to throw them away in some time :-(

It’s probably cheaper to buy the cables than to pay for shipping

Interesting stuff on that list, though I know for a fact a bunch of it is officially released or has circulated. Too bad it's PAL or I'd offer to help. I'd be surprised if that Beat Club stuff hasn't been officially released too, I know all the Yes clips have been.

Look up each show on YouTube, if they are already on there in full and better quality than the VHS that you have then there is no point in you digitising the tapes.
