snare drum very upfront on recording

I recorded a band the other night and it came out quite ok apart from the snare drum.It seems to be very harsh and cutting and is very upfront on the recording,is there anyway to level it out a bit.It doesnt ruin the recording as such but if it could be lower in the mix of it all it would sound better.Il try post a clip if anyone can suggest a place to upload it to,as soundclick isnt working for me at the moment.
