Data Verification Failed FLAC Passed

I burnt a DVD of a bunch of lossless shows, some SHN some FLAC. One file, a FLAC failed the data verification at the end of the burn. I tested the original file, the fingerprint and the FLAC and they passed. Then I tested the burnt copy, and they also passed. Did the data verification actually fail?

Re: Data Verification Failed FLAC Passed

i would trust the ffp more than a burning program's "data verification", fwiw. sounds alright to me, tho one of the other techheads might know something i don't.

Re: Data Verification Failed FLAC Passed

if the FLAC test is okay, this means the audio can be decoded properly and perfectly. it is possible that some bit of the non-audio information of the FLAC is corrupted in such a way that the file can still be decoded and the fingerprint is still intact in the header, but more likely that your program's verification gave a false failure. You can check the entire FLAC file by generating a wholefile md5 for the FLAC on the DVD, then take this md5 and run it to check the FLAC on yer HD. If this test passes then the files are identical, period. The likelyhood of a collision in this case is 100 zillion to one.
