what`s reason?

at last time I saw lot nice and rare recordings 1987-1994 are circulating with ugly spectrum... traders are angry, that I don`t want it, they`re talking, that it can`t be lossy, it`s copies from master, but it seems lossy for me... we all know, how looks spectrum audio, transfered from analog tape. please, share your thoughts about reasons.
here are screens with 2sec. shots.

thanks in advance-
Audrius.

Re: what`s reason?

this is lossy, sourced from minidisc. most traders make an exception and trade MD sources, we don't allow any from 2008-01-01 onwards at this site

Re: what`s reason?

thanks for ansver, Five. it means, that audio mastertape was transfered to MD with bad settings?
I trade MD source too, if it was directly taped with bad settings. because better not exists. but transfering from lossless to lossy- it`s a crime...

Re: what`s reason?

MiniDisc uses a compression codec called ATRAC, which is lossy...there are various ATRAC versions & bitrate settings, some of which are more lossy than others

MD wasn't introduced til 1992, so more than likely the above shows were recorded to some other format, then transferred to MD and finally to computer [a common practice in the mid- to late-90s]
