Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Sarah,

Porcupine Tree 2002-11-03
lineage: Sennheiser Mics (custom-made) > Sony WM-D6C > ? > SHN

That looks fine, but I would say you received it in shn format and that you've listened to it and it's fine (I'll assume that from your post).

Second show looks fine, too.

Black Dog:

You've got my baffled. I'm a Mac user but I am familiar with GSpot, but I've never seen a response like that. Can you PM outpostnorth about this? He would know the answer.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I'm trying to seed a show but my torrent is stuck at 99.9%. Apparently the info and flac fingerprint text files aren't being uploaded. Argh...I'm not sure how to fix this...

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Hello everyone,

Lot of great shows here.

I have a question about seeding, but its more of a technical question which may be better
asked in the technowhateveryoucallit forum
, but I'll post the general idea here and go into
detail once I know where I should be.

I just today made some flac files and downloaded Azureus.
I wanna try seeding something from my home server
I'm just doing this as a test, kind of.
I wanna try this out with a few friends before I make my debut at TTD.

Basically I just need to know everything.

All of the FAQs I've seen have been very helpful up to a certain point, but
don't really explain much about serving the seeds.... if that is even what you call it.

Anyway, I'm going to continue to have a look around here
and maybe I'll find some answers
in unlikely places.

Thanks a lot for any tips.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Ok, double post, but,
I've figured some stuff out.

I'm looking for a command line bittorrent server
that I can run on a linux box with no graphics.

anyway, I downloaded the rpm from the bittorrent site, but
haven't had a chance to spend any time seeing how to start it up
without a ui. Once I get that going I think it's going to be a lot easier than I thought.

I guess it doesn't make much sense to set up a bittorrent server
just for a small community of friends, but I think it would be fun thing to do
to get my feet wet until I have more legit things to share.
I'm thinking it also may be a bandwidth friendly way of sharing audio files for
a long distance recording project....

I know, this isn't the space for member introductions, sorry, I'll finish up now.

<---- super n00b.

What does it mean to seed? What does it mean to leech?

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

at the top there's a link to the TTD FAQ, you can find lots of info there...

seeding is when one person puts files on the internet for many ppl to download via bittorrent

leeching is when you're one of the downloaders

Hey Now Everybody......Hi!

I've got a ton of video that i want to seed from 25 year collection.

Just can't quite get it right........

I think i'm not doing the checksum right or it's the way that i set up the files.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Have you looked at both the VBT Seeding Policy and the VBT Seeding Guide? The Seeding Guide has pictures to help show how to set up the folder and the Policy has a short blurb on making fingerprints of the VIDEO_TS folder.

Yes, i have done studied those and have tried several times to upload a screen shot of the Dead 6-6-92 set II. I think it is the md5summer part that i am doing wrong.......

Is that a good show to seed?

I will keep trying......

I have uploaded several gig from the bt's that i've grabbed but it does not show up in my stat's.
Sure would love to share this video i got...

I'm a bit baffled about this. You mean you want to add a screenshot to the thread? Or in with the torrent files?

As for using md5summer to make the checksums, you can post in Technobabble for help with md5summer. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with it. I'm on a Mac and so I use xACT, which isn't available on a PC.

Regarding stats.... if you were uploading for a show that was on the old tracker (all shows posted prior to July 2), then your stats will not change at all.

Open up MDsummer.

Point it at the video you're trying to make the MD5 for.

Hit Create Sums.

Select All -> Add

OK

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

The vid is a audience shot of the venue screen...........

I've run the checksummer and did exactly what you said and it looked like i was ready to go.....

If i look at the cs file it starts running and making sums again....

I will try and upload the file in a little bit......

Once i get the hang of it i will share a lot....was trading vid with Greyful Dave
10 years ago.......

Peace

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

I just got a show on DVD in DATA form.

It came with a text file saying "lineage: my silver"

That can't be right unless he had it stored in data too. Should it read "my silver -> DVD Decrypter

Let me know it's Stones_03_30_98ntsc(5.1 and 2.0)

Thanks a lot

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Yeah, he should have written my silver -> DVD Decrypter (or whatever software he used), but some people aren't complete when they write out their lineage.

a lot of dvds can be "extracted" simply by copying the VIDEO_TS folder to the HD. There's only a problem if there's copyright stuff on the disc. So this might be how he copied it.
