HDTV --> DVD???

I've got some HDTV stuff in Divx format and it's widescreen (as all HD is I think).

I would like to convert this to compile a DVD but not lose the widescreen. So basically I want black space above and below it like DVD's typically are when you rent a movie.

So far all I have had luck with is converting it and it smushes it all and everybody looks thin and tall. Anyone know a way to do this?

So that would be like a capture of a capture? I think that makes sense cause while playing the "original" it would have the black space around it?

Thanks...I'm working with a laptop so I'm not quite sure where to go from there without another PC.

Course I do have my PC that sits in the corner with no monitor, keyboard or mouse....It's my traders den pc...dedicated to downloading.

Yeah I know what you are saying about Divx (lossy)...This is coming from another source so unfortunately that's what I have to work with.

I could just get a cheapo dell for $399 I suppose. (just bought a new fender amp though! $$$)
