new guy question re: DVD burning - "will not fit" error

Hey Gang - I just got a new DVD burner finally.

I have d/l'd a few shows via uTorrent.
I have Windows DVD Maker.
I have Maxell DVD+R.7 GB discs, 16x.
The files for the shows I have downloaded are less than 4.7 GB per disc.

Yet when I add these files (the VTS files that is) to the project for burning I get "WILL NOT FIT". Even though they total less than the 4.7 GB.

What am I doing wrong you think? Any help out there?

Example. Van Halen US Festival -- Disc One = 3.68 GB...I get "will not fit" even when using a 4.7 GB DVD+R.

Thanks to anyone with some ideas.

Is it possible that the computer doesn't have enough hard drive space in the temp folder to do the burn? How much free hard drive space do you have?

What program are you using to burn the DVDs?

FYI: you don't want to use "Windows DVD Maker" to burn shows you've downloaded from TheTradersDen.

If you're looking for freeware buring applications then check out IMGBurn. You can download it from: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
Here's a guide on how to burn DVDs with IMGBurn: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=4632
I've never actually used this application before, but I've heard good things about it. The guide is really detailed so you shouldn't have any problems burning a disc.

A lot of people on this board also recommend a burning application called "Ones". You can download it from: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cd...rassi_ones.cfm
It's not freeware.

I personally used Nero Burning ROM (version 6)

ONES isn't free, but it's cheap. Definitely worth it.
