Unhappy upload help

This is the best site for live and rare music that I have found. I've been collecting live music for over 20 years and am very thankful to all the people who share the shows that they have recorded. But right now I feel like a beggar because my share ratio is so low.

When I d/l a torrent the speed is very fast but when I upload to help seed a torrent it's ridiculously slow. I don't know how to correct this problem? My torrent program is Bitlord. I need to know what's the best torrent program and
how to increase my upload speed.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Re: upload help

First, I would get rid of BitLord. It's just a bad torrent application for tracker sites (it pounds the tracker and you may find yourself accidentatlly banned for pounding the site!). uTorrent is very popular for PC owners and Azureus is also a very good program.

But anyway, back to your speeds, it's very, very common to have a much higher download speed than upload speed. I can download at 500 KB/s, but only upload at 70 KB/s. You just need to realize that in order to keep your share ratio up, you need to upload for a lot longer than you download.

Re: upload help

Thanks Lynne. I'll try a different program. I usually upload for days at a time and still never achieve a 1 to 1 ratio for any file. I don't want to be a leech.

Re: upload help

Sometimes it really depends on the torrent you are on. If it's an older one, chances are you will not have as many leechers trying to get the show from you. Whereas if it is a newer show, there are probably many more leechers wanting it. So, sometimes it may be better to get to a 2.0 on the newer shows and settle for an lower ratio on an older show and then they will even out to a 1.0.
