Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

A uberleecher is someone who downloads several torrents at the same time. I'm a "Hit and Runner". I jump on a torrent, jump off, seed one of my own, jump off...over and over. I have enough video to seed until the end of time!

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

"Hit & running" is your method of uberleeching. "Uberleecher" is a general term for anyone to downloads more than they upload. Own it, you seem to revel in it - unless someone criticizes you.

I don't revel in it at all, I have tried and succeeded in raising my ratio. I have also contributed some content that may never have seen the light of day here since Jan. 1st. As I've said before, any dummie can sit on a torrent and inflate their ratio. I like to think that I provide something important - or as important as a big ratio to the folks here. Don't discourage me now, I'm well on the way to .30! I do encourage you to download any of this years offerings from the Graceful Duck Archive...

Moon, or do people call you "cusser"? I just put this one up to help my ratio. Let's discuss world famine instead vlad's ratio from now on.

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

I recieved this PM from a member to whom I mailed a dvd to last week. I regularly mail dvds rather than reseed torrents. Not a trade, just a gift with no expectation of anything in return,

Again, much appreciated. Anything I can help you with, or keep an eye out for, let me know.

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

vlad, I would just ignore those that get on your case about your ratio. It isn't as many people as you think it is and some of them in this thread do it just because they know you have made it a sore spot for yourself. You seed a lot of goodies - focus on the positive! You've upload 52 shows in less than a year and many of them were 'new' since you transferred them yourself. So, be happy about all you do for the music world.

Although saying shit like this doesn't help your case any. This is called sharing. And apparently after reading this thread not every dummy knows how to do it.

Wrong. Sharing means creating the torrent and all associated files correctly, and seeding long enough for it to be considered well seeded (6 completions and seeders is my rule of thumb). People who sit on a torrent and seed choose to, and that is fine, but they hardly make a difference in "sharing" if they are one of 50 seeders. At a certain point the torrent does not benefit from more seeders, although one's ratio does. When I review an old torrent that I have seeded, and there are very few or no seeders left, with leechers still trying to complete, I jump back on that torrent to assist those who need it. That is sharing in my opinion.

If you say I don't know how share fine. If you want to take issue with my ratio that's fair. I'm working to improve it.

OK you two, you may take it to PM if you like, but let's get this thread back on track.... well, let's take the personal stuff to PM at least. This thread could die for all I care (personal opinion ).

I'm kind of bored with picking on people for little faults. It's making the Den seem like a drag to hang in. Let's get rid of this shitty thread. I'd like to invite friends, but it's not a happy place sometimes. Let's stop this thread and start one about thoughtless Uberseeders...see if that works.

and if you find the site and its threads "shitty" and "a drag", why not stop coming here or at least stop responding/posting, like 99.9% of the other leecherz

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

It would be great to have the option of choosing who you would llike to seed. ie. many leechers on an old torrent (low to very low ratio) and an acceptable ratio is stuck I would like to only seed this person and put a post in the thread reminding those stuck to boost their ratio to at least 1.0 to at least get help in seeding......... Oh and the mentality of some low ratio seeders seems to be sit on the torrent without seeding in the belief that they are seeding (keep an eye out for this)... oh welll had my whinge hope this is the forum for it.

Well, that is all done through your bittorrent client. You can block users through your client. But, don't forget that even if you block them, that doesn't mean that anyone else has to. So, if you block user B, but you are connected to user A and user A has not blocked user B, then user A will just give the data to user B.

But, feel free to bitch about it here.

a lot of people are being traffic shaped by their ISPs, so you may have to enable encryption in order to connect to some seeders.

Perhaps a Mod felt it had nothing to do with the thread title?

The person who started it is down with what he terms 'uberleechers'.

vlad, stop being so darned sensitive about your share ratio. You care about it a lot more than anybody else does. Put this thread on ignore and then you never have to deal with it again.

I'm not sensitive about my ratio Lynne, really I think my ratio may bother others, but I I'm cool with it. It's just fun sparring with the guys here, especially Mr. Creosote. He's a hoot! Really, as long as noone gets hurt - as they do in the lounge, what's the problem? It's a dumb premise for a thread, so let's have fun with it.

This isn't a dumb premise as long as it invites reasonable conversation.

If you only knew, if you only knew

But this isn't The Lounge, so this sort of kidding around doesn't belong.

OK guys, the whip is coming out. You all know where off-topic posts go and where playing around goes -> The Lounge!!!! So, take it there for now on! I've got my whip back from Heather and I'm not afraid to use it.
