Mac software to rip for further editing

I'd like to see what's possible. I have FCP running on my Mac and I'm looking for a way to rip DVD material so that I can edit it in FCP and burn it to a new DVD. I know that some quality will be lost, but question is if I can limit this loss to almost nill. Handbrake uses mp4 (a compressed format) and FCP has to render all the files, which takes a lot of time . Is there any way to improve that?
Btw, I'm working in PAL.
Regards,
Plastik

Re: Mac software to rip for further editing

definitely stay away from mp4...bad compression

what you want to do is demux first...i've only had do this process once, so someone might know a better prog, but i used MPEGStreamclip to demux to m2v [video stream] and aiff [audio]...then import into FCP for yer edit
