Firewalled...

I've been on TTD for 8 years and I'm seeing a "Firewalled" status for the first time ever.

OS: Windows 7
Router: Ubee DDW3611
Client: Vuze 5.3.0.0
Running Norton 360 Premier

My internet connection is hard-wired from the Ubee router into my computer, but I am using a Belkin N300 F9K10002v1 router for wi-fi in my house. It gives me a better signal than the Ubee. The wi-fi signal on the Ubee has been disabled. Maybe this setup is causing the issue?

I tried stopping and re-starting my torrents, but that didn't work. I am currently only seeding one torrent from TTD. If I stop it and remove it from my Vuze library, the 'Firewalled' status disappears. Once I start it back up, the status returns.

I called Norton and they walked me through checking the settings in 360 and everything seemed fine. They suggested I call my ISP for tech support, which for obvious reasons, I'd rather not do.

I also looked over the port forwarding site for help, but I'm a little confused due to my "use" of 2 routers. I'm pretty good with computers, but don't really have a handle on the network side of things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Firewalled...

What does www.canyouseeme.org say about the port number you are using with Vuze (standard port is 6881)? If they say they can see you, you're good even if our tracker says otherwise (false positive). If they say they can't see you, you're firewalled on that port. It could be that your ISP started blocking port 6881 recently. Port 6881 is a port used by many bittorrent clients. Try using another port with Vuze, preferable one between the range of 49152–65535 (don't forget to open that new port in your Ubee) and see what happens then.

About the routers, I assume you are using them parallel, I mean they both go directly to the wall socket box or cable modem. This set up should not lead to a firewalled situation if your ISP provided you with two addresses. If you have only one IP address and use them linear/serial we need to know which is the master and its configuration.

Re: Firewalled...

Canyouseeme shows "Error: I could not see your service on 71.72.232.83 on port (xxxxx)" for every port I check. I checked 6881 and 38733 (which Vuze shows as my incoming TCP listen port and my UDP listen port. Is this correct? Again, I apologize for not understanding the basics of this stuff.

The Ubee modem/router would be the master. The cable wire is plugged directly into it and then I have an ethernet cable from it into the computer. The Ubee wasn't giving me a strong wifi signal so I ran another line from it to the Belkin router for wifi. Originally, both routers were sending out a signal, so I called my ISP who then walked me through turning off the wifi signal on the Ubee.

Funny, when I logged in tonight, I'm no longer showing firewalled. However, I don't show up in the peers list of the one torrent I am seeding either. ?

Re: Firewalled...

To be sure I'm gonna ask this dumb question first. You are torrenting with your PC, right!?

No worries. That sounds like a port forwarding problem to me. Are you sure those two ports you mentioned (6881 and 38733) are open and directed (forwarded) to your PC's IP? Did you try to open another port besides these two and what is the result then? This to rule out your ISP is blocking you on the standard ports. (When testing you should have Vuze running)

If the Ubee is the master you should turn off DHCP of the Belkin and give it a non-standard IP (most routers use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1). The two routers and your PC should all have different IP's.

You show up as firewalled again but you're back in the peer list when I just checked.
