Downloading Issue

Recently I have been having download issues with sites that I had previously no problem with.

I run Utorrent 3.1.3 build 27220 and have Windows 7 and the firewall with it. I have the port forwarded correctly and the green with the check shows in the bottom right. When I try to download the status says, "offline(timed out)." It shows no seeders or that I am even leeching. I will provide a screen shot of it. Any ideas?

Re: Downloading Issue

Well, I see no leechers, so you aren't going to be transferring any data at all. If you are seeding a show, you need to have leechers (the peers column).

Also, if you seed via dht, you may not get any credit on the sites you are using torrents from.

Re: Downloading Issue

The ones that I'm having problems with are the red arrows. They are the downloads that don't even show me as a leecher. Those are sites I've never had a problem with in the past.

Like Lynne said, you'll need peers (seeds and/or leechers) to up or download something. The trackers shown in red all have no peers, so up or downloading isn't possible at the time.

If a torrent uses DHT (like the demonoid tracker in the box at the bottom of the graph) it also announces itself to multiple 'nodes', to get a working connection besides the tracker it's using. Furthermore you say you use uTorrent 3.1.3, yet the picture says 2.2.1? What are the sites you are having problems with?

Re: Downloading Issue

The sites are Planet Rock, Demonoid and Yeeshkull. I checked to see that the torrents I'm trying to download have active seeders and leechers and they do. They just don't show on Utorrent hence the zero seeders/leechers in that category. I've even had the mods there check to see that the torrents are runnings and they are. I tried upgrading per one of the mods to 3.1.3 and still get the same result.

Here is a screen shot of the current one.

Re: Downloading Issue

I can tell you that your demonoid announce url is incorrect. They moved again to .ph, so you probably need to redownload that torrent.

That may be true but that doesn't explain the other sites.

Re: Downloading Issue

I think Demonoid announced on its site that it would be changing to me and not the old ph a while ago.

Re: Downloading Issue

I don't have DHT and Local Peer Discovery enabled in my client (uTorrent 2.2.1 - whatever recent build). I haven't in a long time, and haven't yet had this weird issue on any sites.....

Re: Downloading Issue

I realize that Local Peer Discovery (on uTorrent since like 1.7.X?) is for a multicast to discover bittorrent clients that are active on a local network, but just saying...

Jerseyguy1957 is right, demonoid's announce url as shown in the picture is correct (.me).

Same here, I have both options disabled because I use sites which use (mostly private) trackers. DHT (Distributed Hash Table) is an addition to most bittorrent clients that allows them to work without a tracker. This means that the client will be able to find peers even when the tracker is down or doesn't exist anymore.

What was the last 'working' version of uTorrent? Did you do some recent installs or upgrades prior to your problems with uTorrent? Instead of upgrading try downgrading to that last working version (FYI the first version of uTorrent that supported Windows 7 is version 1.8.5, so you could work your way up from there).

The last working version of Utorrent that I had was 1.8.1 It worked just fine. My oldest son had to reload everything into the computer after wiping it out due to some problem we couldn't figure out. He tells me that nothing was changed and that it was configured just as before.
