MD to PC via optical?

Hi,

...yes yes, I know that topic has most likely been addressed 1000x before, however I have two MD units:

- Sharp MD-MT90 (for recording)
- Sony MZ-NE410 (for playback)

Instead of having to play back the audio via a headphone jack, and recording it back into my computer to put on a CD- I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that could just rip the recordings off the MD via the USB port of the Sony deck onto my PC. That's all I'm looking for.

The Sony deck came with Sonic Stage (I've long since upgraded) but that has all sorts of copyright signatures in it. So are there any other options?

Any help, as always, would be greatly appreciated.

All the Best,
Dan Molda

Re: MD to PC via optical?

But see that's what I'm trying to avoid: having to re-record the entire thing back into my computer. I have about 10 differnet programs that can do the same things that Audacity does, but I want to be able to transfer it via USB.

Can anyone think of a program (other than Sonic Stage) that is capable of this feat? Please let me know.

All the Best,
Dan Molda

Re: MD to PC via optical?

yes there is something out there. I have the MD MT99 and it comes with a optical to USB connection.

They should have one for your model. I'll take a look later tonight to see if I can find the box/software

but it does exist

Re: MD to PC via optical?

Thanks for your help! I had never heard of the adapter you mentioned.

What I was looking to do is transfer the concerts I have recorded to MD over to my computer via USB.

Thus the conversion would look something like this:

MD -> USB -> PC

I've heard that this is impossible.

Can the adapter you mentioned do that as well though?

All the Best,
Dan Molda

Then it would look like
PC concert -> USB - MiniDisc

Type in the name of the adapter into google it give you lots of information regarding what it can and can't do...from what I remeber however it DOES EXACTLY what you want. Takes a digital file from the computer and puts it on digital media via optical cable. Not as fast as a true digital swap but pretty dam good.

good luck - ez
