unzipping MPEG-2 Audio

Is there any program that will seperate the audio from the video in a MPEG-2 file? The reason I ask is that I would like to remove the audio of an existing DVD and replace it with superior audio.

I know the accepted practice is to use the original camera audio via the masters but this is not possible in this situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: unzipping MPEG-2 Audio

wow, ok, your asking for alotmore than just replacing audio... i would recommend starting in the tapers section, there are several "remaster masters" there. you are gonna need some tools too (premiere, sony vegas, final cut, etc), this isnt a simple project...

ive only done this back when vcd/svcd were big, and it requires syncing, patience, and more patience...

Yep, I know its going to be a tough one so that is why I'm reaching out to some of the big dogs on here.

I have a couple good friends with all the adequate programs but they have never attempted something like this.

Re: unzipping MPEG-2 Audio

hey zeppelin dude.

That's not that easy. try searching on here for demux or demultiplex.
you are going to demux each vob to it's elementary streams with TMPGenc Xpress or DVD Decryptor in file mode.... m2v and wav (or ac3). then you are going to input the old and new audio files into Sony Vegas and line up the two making sure they are perfectly in sync. Then you cut the ends of the new one to be exactly the same length as the old audio. Then you remuliplex the files back to mpeg 2 to author with your DVD program such as Sony DVD Architect.

The key here is to avoid encoding the video again.

Ah, the Saltman strikes again!

I probably already asked you about this before when we were talking about the Buckethead show. The info you've given will be a great help since it is exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks again for the help!
