Adding tags to flac

I have some flac sets that have no tags on them so when i play them in foobar (or any other player) there's no artist or title info.

Is there a program out there - preferably free (as in both non-proprietary and no-price) that I can use to add the tag info?

I've heard that Flacs use 'Vorbis comments' rather than 'ID3' tags, I'm not sure of the difference but i guess I'd want something that will add the VC's.

Foobar!

Right click on the tracks that you want to tag, then properties brings up the metadata (tags).

There's also a live show tagger component that reads the text file attached to live sets and tags the files accordingly. It can be a bit hit and miss, though.

The live show tagger expects the text file to be in a certain format (although it's more forgiving than the etree scripts for Linux). You've got the ability to edit the .txt file from within the tagger, which makes it fairly easy to get the tags right. Plus, you start figuring out some of the common problems with txt files as you use it a little.

Remember, though, that if you add (or change) tags you change the FLAC metadata as well - which means you can't rejoin the torrent with the newly tagged FLAC files.

Re: Adding tags to flac

for those that don't use foobar, you can also use the free program mp3tag, it supports vorbis comments (needed for flac):
