HD Video - Audience Corrupted video files?

Last year I helped film a few video angles at a show. Finally got over to buddy's place to grab the files. Get home, they're not on my hard drive. Next time I start up the computer, the files are appearing, but some will not open or play. The file size is right (some 3.98 GB).

I can't change security settings. I can't move them, rename them or delete them. What the $&!# is going on?

These are .MOV files from Canon cameras. HD footage 1080p. They were copied from an external drive (plugged into Mac) and are on another external drive (plugged in my PC). The guy with the original data has yet to check his files ("I'm too busy this week") so I'm not sure yet if his is corrupt too. Regardless, kind of annoying to have 45GB of useless data that I cannot get rid of or alter.

Any suggestions? Anyone have this issue before? VLC says "Bad File Descriptor". In the security tab of the file properties, it says "Requested Security Info is unavailable..."

The good news - I already got paid for editing and its not a band I like very much.

Re: Corrupted video files?

You could run a check disk on that particular drive to verify there are no bad sectors. Otherwise there may have been something changed on the file permissions coming from Mac over to PC. As for getting rid of them, possibly a quick format will take care of them.

Re: Corrupted video files?

Check disk found no errors. Too much stuff on the drive to format (4TB). I'll just have to see if buddy still has good copies and maybe get him to upload them instead of have more errors like this.
