Matrix of Red Hot Chili Peppers AUD/SBD Siriusxm in Audacity

Hi there, I have been attempting to create a satisfactory matrix of the two sources which are linked below. I am using Audacity. I understand the rudiments of the process however be it phasing or other issues, I am continually ending up with subpar results. With that said, I also understand that persistence and time is an integral part of the process.

I am wondering if there are any other free or less costly programs that may lead towards a better result? I am willing to play around with both sources at length though I wonder if the sources themselves will lend to a well sounding matrix or if using Audacity is limiting my ability to do so. Thank you.

I use Adobe Audition. You can download a fully functional trial version and use it for 7 days. Then either cancel, or if you plan to do more sign up for the monthly subscription. It's a little pricey if you aren't going to use it much.

Audacity is a little harder to work with in my opinion, but should do what you want it to do.

That said, mixing two sources together won't always result in a better sounding finished product. If one of the source recordings is inferior sounding, mixing it to the better sounding source will only lower the quality of that source.

I haven’t used audacity in like 20 years but I believe you can do mixdowns with it. It’s much easier to use a multitrack program, try Audition or Reaper or something

Time aligning smaller sections can be easier than trying to get the whole show in one shot. Keep one source intact and play with the other

Mind telling me how to create a mtx using adobe audition? I've only used it to split tracks etc.

File > New > Multitrack session (a box pops up, fill in the info as needed)
At the multitrack screen, on Track 1 right click Insert > files to load the first source, then do the same for the second source in Track 2
Zoom in the tracks to align them. If they are slightly off, click on the Waveform tab on the top and make an edit (likely deleting or adding milliseconds of blank space so the tracks align). Click the Multitrack tab at the top to return to the original screen and check the alignment. This is kind of a trial and error, might need a few tries.
Do this every few minutes to insure things stay aligned. Make adjustments as necessary.
Make any other edits you want.
When you finish, go to Multitrack > Mixdown Session to New file > Entire Session
When your mixed down file is ready, File > Save As

It takes patience and practice. I used to do it based on mathematics and stretching one file by the calculated percentage to match the other. THIS DOES NOT WORK!!!! The alignment drift is not consistent.
