For me this recording is little strange....

Originaly recording come from 1975. But I'm not sure if someone piss me off and this will be come from mp3. I saw many shots with frequences on this site and for me right channel is quite ok (propably I'm wrong) in Anal Freq but left is bad. Please check this (copy link and paste on new window and it work):
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/files/spec.jpg
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/fi...annel_left.jpg
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/fi...nnel_right.jpg
and
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/files/CE1.jpg
but in some seconds on CEP it looks like this:
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/files/CE2.jpg
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/files/CE3.jpg

Please help me guys with this !!

Re: For me this recording is little strange....

Looks lossy. You could increase the FFT size in cooledits fa to smooth the line out.

Re: For me this recording is little strange....

the images CE2 and CE3 are registering incorrectly... it sometimes shows fa like this when you first open a file, if you click the cursor around it will look more like the CE1 image.

In AnalFreq there's a steep dropoff visible on the L but not so visible on the R... also, in the CEP SA the on the left you can see a few telltale black rectangular blocks cutting into the colour... strange that neither AnalFreq nor CEP show any evidence of problems on the R channel but both show evidence on the left. Somehow I doubt that only one channel is lossy! Overall frequency response is terrible so perhaps this is helping to hide the evidence in most places. I'd call this lossy, if you'd like to send me a sample post a yousendit.com link or pm me.

About this spectrum, on right channel in some places also look like in left channel ... Here is another part of some track from this:
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/files/spec2.jpg
Looks crapy, ha... ;(

This is very strange audience recording (or my version...) :/ I still don't know what to thinking about this. For that I know this one what I have was never before availible on mp3 (or other shity format) and originaly it was come from tape. Is this possible that the mastertape will looks like this ?

range_hood is this will be good ?:

Re: For me this recording is little strange....

ahh, now I can see the blockiness all over the place on both channels in the new cep sa you posted. this is lossy. perhaps the trader who gave it to you didn't realize that it wasn't a good source, you should let him/her know and cease to trade this.

as for fft size on cep fa, increasing it doesn't seem to help display the dropoff that trick does work with eac for some reason.

I also sent you an email. If you still want to send me a sample I'll look it over but I'm positive after seeing the 2nd cep sa that this is lossy.

could be that cool edit is too exact on this. There are these vertical lines all over (statics) and the dropoff isnīt that clean all the way. On that pic you posted, Five, this looks somewhat minidicish or aac-style.

Thatīs why I like these black and white spectrals.

Re: For me this recording is little strange....

Thats how I have it:

Cool Edit pro 2.00
options > settings >

"colors" tab > "spectral" tab
Spectral High energy: black (highlight > change color)
Spectral Low Energy: white

Gamma: 0.4

Re: For me this recording is little strange....

For the gamma I have just the following link, as Iīm not familiar with that:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_correction

I choose .4 cause the blocks came out so nicely on lossy recordings. My TFT hasnīt got that good contrast/brightness.

Re: For me this recording is little strange....

Is this possible that the original equipment (reel to reel machine ?) what record this on 1975 was so crapy and that's why it's look so strange ?

I won't be able to get to the sample today, most probably tomorrow I can take a close look at it and post back here.

the weak frequency response could be explained by this but the rectangular blocks cannot be created by anything other than lossy encoding. I'm just going to double-check this, I'm quite positive that its lossy.

By the way last 2 other recordings from 1981, Mexico, poor quality, the guy who sent to me this tell that it's a copy from tapes and best availible version (each recording have 2 "big tracks" so looks like from tapes), but propably not (copy link and paste on new window and it work):

http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/fi...errey_tape.jpg
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/fi...ey_tape_fa.jpg

http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/files/Puebla_tape.jpg
http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/fi...la_tape_fa.jpg

Thanks guys !!!
