Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

ep620,

If you hadn't noticed...it's 2007, not '89 or '90. Most "Dead" fans I know smoke pot, have families and a good job to boot, and they DON'T waste their time looking for "frat guys" or "narcs" because they are too busy enjoying the show. And I can't be a "hater" because I used to enjoy smoking pot quite a bit, I probably still would be if my job didn't require regular whiz quizzes and background checks, it was my choice to make a life change and I don't regret it....but I certainly do dream every so often about rollin one and going on a road trip just because I can.

We knew how to respect ourselves and others while still having fun....too bad you didn't seem to have the same chance...maybe you wouldn't resemble what you liken others to. It's just the internet, it's just another post in another thread.....time to move on man, the moment's gone.

I thought we were talking about the past. I'm not looking for narcs to jump out of bushes. Life is very different now with the job, daughter, etc.

I wasn't calling you a hater. I was talking about target.

This is a nice daydream on occasion.

Old school baby. I had fun along the way and I'm glad I got to see shows with older heads (mid '80s). Shit got too heavy in the early '90s. I saw too many of my friends go to jail over slimy shit the cops pulled. So I jumped ship before it happened to me.

Yea. I know. Target's statements are just more internet stupidity. I can joke about hippies (myself included) and I know when someone else is joking. He's not. Ignorant people bother me.

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

I'm glad you realise I am not taking anything out on you.....I, myself, am a love child...born right at the end of an era and a movement that still thrives to this day. I never forget that....and I am glad you and I are on good terms and not some crazy out of control rant that leads nowhere.

Daydreams are planned activity for retirement.....lmao!!!!

Has this thread turned into a random pictures thread when I wasn't looking?

Lynne, it's much more fun than being mean to people for leeching.

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

A uberleecher is someone who downloads several torrents at the same time. I'm a "Hit and Runner". I jump on a torrent, jump off, seed one of my own, jump off...over and over. I have enough video to seed until the end of time!

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

"Hit & running" is your method of uberleeching. "Uberleecher" is a general term for anyone to downloads more than they upload. Own it, you seem to revel in it - unless someone criticizes you.

I don't revel in it at all, I have tried and succeeded in raising my ratio. I have also contributed some content that may never have seen the light of day here since Jan. 1st. As I've said before, any dummie can sit on a torrent and inflate their ratio. I like to think that I provide something important - or as important as a big ratio to the folks here. Don't discourage me now, I'm well on the way to .30! I do encourage you to download any of this years offerings from the Graceful Duck Archive...

Moon, or do people call you "cusser"? I just put this one up to help my ratio. Let's discuss world famine instead vlad's ratio from now on.

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

I recieved this PM from a member to whom I mailed a dvd to last week. I regularly mail dvds rather than reseed torrents. Not a trade, just a gift with no expectation of anything in return,

I've always been a bit bothered to see people raise a fuss about your ratio in particular as they download your show(s). I wish something was in place so more credit could be given for actual uploads/contributions...

Again, much appreciated. Anything I can help you with, or keep an eye out for, let me know.

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

vlad, I would just ignore those that get on your case about your ratio. It isn't as many people as you think it is and some of them in this thread do it just because they know you have made it a sore spot for yourself. You seed a lot of goodies - focus on the positive! You've upload 52 shows in less than a year and many of them were 'new' since you transferred them yourself. So, be happy about all you do for the music world.

Although saying shit like this doesn't help your case any. This is called sharing. And apparently after reading this thread not every dummy knows how to do it.

Wrong. Sharing means creating the torrent and all associated files correctly, and seeding long enough for it to be considered well seeded (6 completions and seeders is my rule of thumb). People who sit on a torrent and seed choose to, and that is fine, but they hardly make a difference in "sharing" if they are one of 50 seeders. At a certain point the torrent does not benefit from more seeders, although one's ratio does. When I review an old torrent that I have seeded, and there are very few or no seeders left, with leechers still trying to complete, I jump back on that torrent to assist those who need it. That is sharing in my opinion.

If you say I don't know how share fine. If you want to take issue with my ratio that's fair. I'm working to improve it.

Re: Name & Shame Uberleechers Thread

OK you two, you may take it to PM if you like, but let's get this thread back on track.... well, let's take the personal stuff to PM at least. This thread could die for all I care (personal opinion ).
