Recorder & Microphone Recommendations

What's a good digital/mp3 recorder for class lectures? Would the fancy shmancy microphone-recorder setups for concert taping work E.g Schoeps-Edirol setup? I'm trying to help out a med-student

Thanks.

Re: Recorder & Microphone Recommendations

if he's got an iPod its pretty convenient to get Griffin iTalk Pro or Belkin TuneTalk Stereo either is $80 and suits this purpose.

Schoeps-Edirol will also work great but its kinda overkill!
