Correcting aspect ratio in Vegas Video

Hello everybody. I've run into an issue with some footage I have recorded from a television broadcast from about 10 years ago and was hoping for some advice.

The footage I have is PAL video that was broadcast in the 4:3 aspect ratio. I currently have an AVI file (dv-avi format) and it's 720 x 576 pixels.

Most of the interview is correctly broadcast in 4:3 and looks fine. But at one point during the broadcast some other footage is shown where the aspect ratio is off. The video appears stretched. Here is a JPG image of the problem footage.

Is there a way I can correct the aspect ratio of this without affecting the rest of the video?

Thanks

Split the video at the frame where the aspect ratio changes. Then click on the pan/crop button at the end of that section of video. This will allow you to adjust the aspect ratio so that it displays correctly.

Re: Correcting aspect ratio in Vegas Video

Thanks for directions

I managed to split the clip and I've been experimenting with resizing the video. I changed the resolution to 720 x 504 and set the "maintain aspect ratio" option to "No" and the "stretch to fill frame" option to "Yes". When previewing the video it looks fine.

Beware of bad resizing on interlaced footage !!!!
You're not supposed to resize interlaced video.
