Customize smiiles menu

I have a suggestion, I think it would be helpful if the members were allowed to select what smilies first appear in the side bar to the right => in advanced mode -- to make it easier to use the smiles we use most -- or put smilies that we do not know the code for.

Re: Customize smiiles menu

There is a hack to do this, but I'll need to test it on my test site first to see if it works for our version of vbulletin (it's written for an older version, so it may not work).

You know what would be cool too? To be able to customize your own quick reply smiley drop down box.

Re: Customize smiiles menu

this is a great idea, I was just thinking about it yesterday

I dread hitting the 'more smileys' button and searching thru 500 of them when I only use less than 10 regularly.

Re: Customize smiiles menu

While we are on smileys, why isn't the smileys dropdown available from the "Edit" message function. I have to go to advanced to add smileys that I don't know.

Re: Customize smiiles menu

Sorry guys, I totally forgot about this.

For some reason, vB doesn't put the smilies in the Quick Edit. They actually don't put it in Quick Reply either, or in the Social Groups, or the Visitor Messages, but someone wrote a mod for it that I installed.

Re: Customize smiiles menu

Also, the smilies don't work on the iPhone, it shows like 6 of them and there is no way to scroll down. Anyone know a way around this, besides memorizing the code?

Re: Customize smiiles menu

Maybe to make things easier, have the top smiles or the scroll down menu in the quick post have your most used smilies

Re: Customize smiiles menu

OK, nolife, I got off my duff and installed the thing. Go to User CP > Edit Favorite Smilies
and you may pick your 18 favorite smilies. They will then show up in the dropdown in your Quick Reply and in other areas where smilies show up. I didn't spend much (any!) time testing it except to see it works, so let me know if there are problems.

Re: Customize smiiles menu

Nolife is not meant to be insulting to him. It's just the name I first 'saw' when I saw his username. I know there is a W and a 4 somewhere in there, but can never remember where, so I just call him Nolife with affection.
