Ah, I see....

Re: Lineage Question

The Paramount Show hasn't neccesarily been on a CDR at all according to the (not clear) lineage it is a liberated bootleg. What isn't reported is the software used to go from wav to shn. I didn't put in another cdr generation when I removed the tracks, just converted to wav, used EAC to remove silence (I accept this may not have been the best thing to do but I was new to this sort of thing) and then FLACed the tracks. It went down really well the 2 times I seeded it on STG, I asked at the time whether there were any issues with me seeding it, no one objected, no one commented on any of the above issues, no one said there were any (nasty or otherwise) gaps or pops once they had downloaded it. However, I now see it isn't appropriate I share it here so I won't.
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: Lineage Question

Okay, I've got a show I'd like to seed, but I know very little about the lineage. Taped by a guy I know awhile back and downloaded from his ftp server. I've asked him a couple times if he could provide the lineage to me, but he's never gotten back to me. I'm a huge Mofro fan, and of the 50 shows or so I've listened to of the band, this one is my favorite and its never been torrented anywhere. Its a great recording, great sound of a great show with only one half second dropout in the first song of a two disk show. I listen to the show all the time, listening to it right now in fact, and love it every time I listen to it. Even though I know its a great recording, am I allowed to torrent it here without knowing the lineage at all?

I figure that would be fine with something like:

unknown mic > unknown recorder > unknown transfer > FLAC/SHN (downloaded direct from the taper's FTP, hence the best available source)

But then I don't set the rules so who am I to say. Just wanted slightly more of an excuse to post than saying "yes Stephen, my name's Rob, glad I could be of help "
