My stats went crazy. Help me

Till 30 minutes ago, my stats were 25.01GB/33.76GB.Right now, they are 383.90MB/479MB ( which is - says my torrent client - exactly the ratio of my only active torrent at this time: Robin Trower April 11th 1980 flac.torrent
Thanks in advance

That is the strangest thing. The script doesn't allow stuff to be subtracted, only added. And, it wouldn't 'reset' your stats either. I'm scratching my head on this. What bittorrent client are you using?

*Thanks for your help. Well, I'm scratching my head big time too. It's so weird. My client has not been changed: I use Transmission for a long time with no problems at all.

Re: My stats went crazy. Help me

I just looked up your stats from Nov 23 and they were:

uploaded: 27711152747 Bytes = 2.5808 GB
downloaded: 23479912097 Bytes = 2.1867 GB

Could your stats have gone crazy the other way first (get really large like in your first post) and then go crazy to get reset?

Transmission is a client that has been banned from a couple of sites for either passing along bad stats and/or announcing too often (it seems to not like to respect the interval that the tracker requests). What version of Transmission are you using? Also, have you considered using another client?

Wow... I just looked over this thread about Transmission being banned at OINK (that is what the original topic was about): http://transmission.m0k.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=491 and I skipped to the last page and they talk about how the latest version has been known to reset the stats (like what happened to you)! I would seriously look into another client.

I'm on an 800 MHz iMac running 10.4.8 with 768 MB RAM and I use Azureus without problems (well, OK, a small problem in the latest version when you create a torrent and then try to seed it, but that shouldn't affect you). BitTorrent is also a nice little client.

Thanks for your efforts. Well, I don't know about the stats you've mentioned.
See, I'm not pushing my memory too hard, and without thinking too much I can remember files that I've recently downloaded and can be easily checked on their Peers List: Pink Floyd-PF 1975-04-26 LA Forum. torrent (almost 1GB), Jimi Hendrix 1969-02-24 Royal Albert Hall London, England. torrent (4.36GB). Those two files alone represent way more than the 2.18GB you're mentioning. No, I'm quite sure about the more than 20GB I had previously.
Thanks

Re: My stats went crazy. Help me

Well, then I would guess that a couple of days ago was not the first time that Transmission 'reset' your stats. Did you read any of the link I posted? If you continue to use Transmission, and they don't fix these problems, then it will probably happen again.

Yes, I did read all the link you posted. Yes, I can move to another client. But my question remains the same: can my stats be manually adjusted to their previous numbers? I mean, I wasn't aware of the Transmission problems.
Please let me know and thanks for your help.

Re: My stats went crazy. Help me

Whoops, yes, they can be reset manually. I'll set them back to what they are in the first post, plus your 383 down/588 up that you have since accrued.

Re: My stats went crazy. Help me

Just FYI, they just banned Mainline and Tomato (mac version) over at LosslessLegs for they same reasons, reseting and very inaccurately reporting stats, turned out to be a big headache for the mods 'cause they were always fielding requests to reset stats. Feeling over there, and mine as well, is that utorrent is great, not a resource hog (less of a problem on Linux), and easy to work with, I switched over from BitComet, and utorrent seems to be more reliable and smooth.

Do you have a link to where they stated this? I just went over there and can find nothing about it. I was especially curious cuz I've never heard of anyone banning Tomato before. It's based off of bittorrent and, as far as I know, ONLY available for mac users.

Also, utorrent isn't available for mac users, so that isn't really a possibility for the OP.

Re: My stats went crazy. Help me

Thanks for those links. I guess I was looking in the wrong place. That is very weird that Tomato is banned. Like I said, it is based on the original bittorrent client. However, it also hasn't been updated in ages.
