Question Printing on cd's?

For the past few years I've been using Lightscribe to create labels for my cd's and dvd's, but last week I was looking for blanks and found out that Lightscribe was discontinued a few years ago, so I bought a Canon printer that can print on discs. Unfortunately, the software that came with it forces you to pick from one of their design formats and won't let you choose where to put pictures and text. So before I go Googling for a replacement program I thought that I'd ask here to see if anyone knows of a good program for printing on discs that will allow you to do what you want? Thanks.

You should have bought an Epson. They come with a fine CD print program which allows you to import any pic you like including those you may have designed yourself. As long as it's in jpg format you can use it

Re: Printing on cd's?

The software that came with the Canon printer is absolute garbage, which is surprising coming from them. I Googled it and it looks like Acoustica and SureThing are the two best programs for printing on discs. Acoustica is $21.95 and the version of SureThing that prints on discs is $29.95, but they've both got free trials so I'll probably give 'em both a try.

And the prices for blank Lightscribe discs are so outrageous right now that 100 cd's are more money than I'll have paid for this software, 100 blank ink jet printable cd's, and the printer. 50 blank Lightscribe cd's are roughly what I paid for the printer and the 100 ink jet cd's!

Indeed. I haven't burned any discs in a long while, but I picked up a used Epson on Ebay just for the print to disc ability a few years back and always thought it did a good job.

Had no idea lightscribe was discontinued, i used to use that back in the day ... even bought an external lightscribe cd burner! I always liked how you could re-burn the lightscribe a second and third time and it would make the images more pronounced/darker.
