checksum alternatives in mac

im trying out a hackintosh and i came across xact 2.13 & checksum-x. they are ok with flacs n *.ts files, the problem is video dvds. both give none but "missing". the dvds play nice wit xbmc, vlc, snow dvd player n so on. think cant be the nt drive mounted with tuxera since is the same with the hfs+ snow leopard drive. those are the files i threw to those apps for now.

exuse my little experience. this is the 1st place i can think of.

so id like to ask advise to any mac user on their choice for verifyin utilities, or if you think it may be a hackintosh issue that i should look a workaround for (system definitions 3.1 on this).

any opinion more than welcome.

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

Could it be the md5 checksum is in the wrong directory and so it isn't verifying for that reason?

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

think it happens all time. ill edit 1 to see. if that would be the case, are there apps that read the "*../video_ts/*.vob" line. "../" is for runnin the md5 from an EXTRAS_TS folder, that works in win apps.

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

Are you making sure to select the right option when verifying the md5 (it isn't the top option).

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

u mean "verifyin checksum file" instead of audio files? i think is because of the text in the md5 writin "*../VIDEO_TS/VTS01.VOB"

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

I have run checksum files from within the EXTRAS_TS directory many times. Unfortunately, I have no examples on my drive right now to show to you.

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

I put the MD5 in the VIDEO_TS folder to check when that happens and more often than not it will check fine... remember to take the MD5 out when done.

I use xACT.

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

i run em from an EXTRAS_TS folder all the time using xACT, no problems...the md5 has to read "../VIDEO_TS/" after the asterisk & before the file name on each line -- ya can't use "..\VIDEO_TS\" like a lot of PC users do

example...

98963acdc0a9e7695bb14a428509bd5e *../VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP
98963acdc0a9e7695bb14a428509bd5e *../VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO
5f7973ff9e4152827994d4149c8af39d *../VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.VOB
2ef014bf840149a1e9eed7e5f726239f *../VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.BUP
2ef014bf840149a1e9eed7e5f726239f *../VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.IFO
c1b7395b93343ad62d068bdb993e0a73 *../VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB
63804235bece2fd22830251db8396a54 *../VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.VOB

Re: checksum alternatives in mac

xACT is what I like to use also. It's linked in our FAQ too.
