New torrents are DHT-enabled (not marked as private)

I just downloaded two recent .torrent files, http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...d.php?t=230045 and http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...d.php?t=230028, and I noticed that my client (if I start the torrents, which I haven't) will use DHT - the torrent files don't have private=1 set. I assume this isn't intentional, since DHT means ratios won't get tracked correctly and the torrent contents can be downloaded by non-members.

Did the site get an upgrade or configuration change recently that might have changed the behavior?

Yeah, folks are supposed to make a torrent as a private tracker torrent, but occasionally some folks will let one slip in with DHT turned on. I sort of wish we had a screening process for new torrents to reject the ones with DHT, but we don't seem to have that, so once in a while one gets in. Since, technically, ratios don't *really* matter here, not enforced, it doesn't *really* matter that much if the tracker doesn't count mb up and down for some kind of points system. In a perfect world, sure, DHT off would be a big deal, but evidently nothing is perfect... Neither are we.

Folks: please, turn DHT off when you make a torrent to upload here! Let our tracker handle things, and keep our torrents for us.
We might have to start removing old torrents with DHT enabled. Please don't make us do this! Please stop using it. Thanks...

Oh, got it, I didn't realize it was up to the uploader and wasn't automatically done by the website. Thanks!

Newer trackers can prohibit torrents that are not private and do not fit certain standards. I suspect ours doesn't have that capability.
