Rip the DVD to one large mpeg file, then demux.

It should. Did you demux audio and video, and synch the new audio?

Re: getting a standalone dvd into sony vegas 6

Do you have the AC3 plugin for Vegas? I know it won't save to AC3 without purchasing the plugin and it may not read either. If that's the issue you will have to demux the audio as linked before and convert it to WAV. Then you can import both audio and video separately and they should match up fine.

Re: getting a standalone dvd into sony vegas 6

Set up DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode and set File Splitting to none. Freeware AC3 to WAV: http://www.dbpoweramp.com + http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-ac3.htm
Please note that if you do editing in Vegas and save/export video, it will be re-encoded - quality will degrade.

Re: getting a standalone dvd into sony vegas 6

Sounds like you might not have the ac3 plugin for Vegas. It is xtra on the older versions. Might be on the new ones too. I forget.

should be able to demux and then remux to mpeg2. vegas doesn't like vob.
