Checksum error?

I'm trying to reseed a torrent I downloaded earlier but I don't know much about the process. I didn't really alter the files and it's basically the same as it was when I downloaded it, but when I run the checksum tool that came with the download it comes up with an error that says it couldn't do the checksum for two files that couldn't be opened:
summer
M

Does anyone know what this means? I suspected this meant some sort of hidden file or something but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Re: Checksum error?

If you open the checksum file using a text editor can you see only flac files listed or are some other type of files also listed? You should really only need the flac files, so try removing the extra lines, save the file, then run the new checksum file.

It's extra info written by a checksum program which is incorrectly red by other(s). Ignore it, everything is OK

Should that be okay for what I need, since that is indeed exactly all of the files? I tried removing the text file but still got the same error.

Re: Checksum error?

The text file looks OK. Sometimes you need to remove the extra two lines at the top (the ones about MD5Summer). Pawel seems familiar with the error you got and says it should be just fine.

Re: Checksum error?

Ah, that was right, I removed it and it was verified okay. Thanks for the help on that.

But now I've encountered another problem - when I downloaded the torrent from the thread to start seeding, it checked the torrent but then attempts to download the file instead of recognizing I already have the files and becoming a seed.

Not exactly a ringing 100% "no, I didn't change a thing"...

You may want to look at this FAQ item - I'm trying to seed my show but I keep showing up as a leecher, not a seeder. Help!

Re: Checksum error?

Metsfanmax, if you removed the extra info then obviously md5 file is altered and doesn't match hash in the torrent file, lol. You need to re-download it as it is.

I think that any md5 checksum program doesn't stop on such kind of extra info, runs on all files, and shows if any real file doesn't verify. Such for example work old fashioned MKW which report a problem for MD5summer text.
