Question About External Mics for Audio Taping

I am considering picking up the Roland Edirol R-09 to record some audio stuff. I asked one guy I respect and he reccommended the Core Sound Cardioids.

What do you guys think? Price is not really a factor and I am looking for something that will be stealth and used for indoor and outdoor.

Open to any and all suggestions, cheers!

Only been taping a couple years and I absolutely LLOOOVE the Edirol R-09 with Core Sounds mics. Indoor or outdoor that simply kick ass. Best of all the Red Edirol looks like a popular Verizon phone so I always breeze past security.

Now I'm sure someone knows of better mics but I got the whole package for about $750 and have been happy.

If that's actually the case, look into DPA 4060 or 4061, DPA 4023, or a Schoeps>nbox combo. The 4023 & any of the Schoeps caps are a bit bigger but definitely stealthable. The 4060/4061 are tiny (literally smaller than a pencil eraser.

along with the regular tapers forum, we've begun a gear forum with detailed specs/average price/links for various equipment...based on whether you want "open" or "stealth" mics, and your $ range, this forum should be an even better help for comparing mics

Gear Forum: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...splay.php?f=76
Mic Finder: http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...ad.php?t=52104

[and as rspencer said, if money isn't an issue, go with the DPAs ]
