Weird looking freq analysis

This came up today on a cd I found lying around.

Anyone seen it before?

Re: Weird looking freq analysis

What does the spectral view look like? I've seen similar things on some older recordings where frequencies don't get about 8-10K (and sound like it).

Um, I'm not an expert, but from what I've read, haircuts are bad. Take a look at this link:

Re: Weird looking freq analysis

umm... I think Lynne meant that it doesn't look so good thus far. EAC's frequency analysis needs to be set differently to show mp3-sourced artifacts... could you please post another frequency analysis with the fft setting at max (65536) and "Hanning" for the window function, please?

Even better, get a copy of the old freeware analfreq, it works better for our purposes. This link should still be working:
http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/simtelnet/wi...nd/afreq18.zip

Also, for the spectral analysis could you show us a 1.5-2 second view? Or even better, create a 2-second flac, zip it and attach it here.

Merry Christmas I'll be back in a couple days...

Re: Weird looking freq analysis

I was curious what the odd looking lines meant. I've seen other FA that looked like this one.

I wasn't going to post the show. I was 99% certain it was .mp3 anyway. Just curious why it looked funny.

Re: Weird looking freq analysis

It looks like it could possibly be vbr mp3-sourced.

Re: Weird looking freq analysis

Wow...based on the first plot, I'd say this recording sounds like shit. What is it? How old is it? An AnalFreq plot would be a little more helpful, but just looking at what you have there, it's absolutely something that's been tampered with in a very bad way.

Re: Weird looking freq analysis

Who cares what the frequency analysis looks like? That spectral view clearly says it's mp3 sourced.
