1976 live Neil Young - lossless?

The source for this show is listed as "cdr->cdparanoia->shn". To me, the SA looks suspicious, but the FA looks full lossless. Just wanted another opinion. I'm really new at deciphering these analyses.

Also, what's the red horizontal line at 16k?

Thanks.

Re: 1976 live Neil Young - lossless?

the red stripe probably means its FM

eac isn't reliable for spotting lossy sources so I can't say much more.

looks perfectly lossless, with a few analog generations on it. might have been on hifi vhs at some point.

I can't really say what causes these stripes that often appear at around 16khz, but I'm 100% sure this does not indicate that the recordings are sourced from FM or went through Hifi-VHS. I've seen those on a lot of audience recordings and I've also seen it in the frequency analysis of verified Analog master>DAT or Master>CDR sourced recordings. My guess is that the stripes are caused by the equipement the tape was recorded on. (Misaligned heads maybe?)

Re: 1976 live Neil Young - lossless?

I've seen it on cassette transfers as well, it is usually less red. I've also seen it caused by very cheap soundcards so method of transfer could be suspect. fm also has the characteristic that the frequency response dies at aprox 15kHz so there's another clue.
