Re: Firewalled ?!!?!??!

Yes, DHCP is enabled and if you are on a PC, and you have selected to have your IP assigned via DHCP (which you are right now), then you would get one in the range of 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.100 (and you were assigned 192.168.2.2). However, you want to assign an IP to your computer Manually. So, you need to pick an IP OUTSIDE OF that range, which is why I suggested 192.168.2.200. If you pick an IP WITHIN that range, you probably will not be able to connect to the internet.

Re: Firewalled ?!!?!??!

Here's step 10:

click the Use the Following Ip and enter:

192.168.2.200 for your IP
subnet 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.2.0 (I think, get that from your ipconfig/all listing)

You said you got the DNS servers from your ISP, just put those there (they are probably already entered there).

Re: Firewalled ?!!?!??!

I'm not sure WHAT my problem is. With my connection here that is. (yeah, yeah i get plenty of advice on alla the rest of them already )

I am "possibly firewalled" here but other apps, such as furthurnet client, show no "firewalled" problem. I am not using a router. Direct connection to the Internet afaik.

WinXPSP2
AMD Athalon XP 3000+
1GB ram
Comodo Firewall
AVG A-V
BitTorrent - not sure which version anymore but def not current release
RoadRunner cable

I changed the default port to use to 61252 to check if 6881 was being blocked. Made no difference.

I've always tried to give back as much as I grabbed and I'm kinda bummed now not to be able to. Any help in fixing this would be grtely appreciated! I'll check in later at work. Thanks!

Re: Firewalled ?!!?!??!

Did you check your connection at canyouseeme.org and it did say there was a problem?

Do you have your XP firewall off or do you have bittorrent as an exception? And how about with AVG?

All firewalling means is that you cannot 'talk' to any other users who are firewalled. So, it really makes hardly any difference at all if you are on a torrent with lots of unfirewalled users. It's when you are on a torrent with a bunch of firewalled users that you have a problem.

Thanks for the quick reply!

When I visited canyouseeme.org and check 61252 it says yes. When I check another port, used by another app, it say Success, I can see your.. Is this where the check box for "possible TCP stack fix" comes in in BitTorrent's Settings > Network?

WinXP firewall is off. Or at least I think it's off. In the quick glance in Security Settings it says ON, but when I open the settings to change it it still shows it as OFF (not recommended). I have allowed uTorrent and BitTorrent as exceptions, so I would think that it would allow them even if it was/is on. Correct? I realize problems can creep up when more than one firewall/a-v scanner is used and now I'm not sure if I have 2 firewalls "active" or not. |Edit: ok I took a closer look and it says ON because it recognizes my Comodo firewall not because Windows Firewall is on|

As far as AVG I am using AVG 7.5 Free Edition. Anti-Virus only. I have not found anywhere to allow a program or to disallow a program.

Unfortunately it seems as though recently there seems to be a LOT more folks firewalled on the torrents, at least those I've been grabbing. And I like sharing and helping spread the music.

Re: Firewalled ?!!?!??!

When I said yes I meant that Yes I am firewalled according to canyouseeme.org.

I will try with another torrent client later when I get home and see what happens. Thanks for the help. I had fixed a firewall problem before when I was actually using a router. I'm sure I can figure this one out as well.

It just takes time. Time that could better be used helping someone else with a torrent completion.

Re: Firewalled ?!!?!??!

You might want to start your own thread with a title something like "Firewalled on PC without a router" and then write down what you wrote above. I'm a Mac user, so I'm not too familiar with AVG or the XP firewall, so I'm not much help when it comes to specifics on what to look for.
