no sound on burned dvd

hello all. I'm a new member. I've downloaded several videotaped concerts in the lossless format that should be good enough to burn onto a dvd and play in my player, but my first attempt was unsuccessful.
The video showed up in my player, but the sound did not.
Should I try again. I really dont want to burn another disc if I did it wrong the first time.
I'm using a mac. I dragged the "VIDEO_TS" folder onto my desktop and burned it onto the blank dvd.
Can someone walk me through this or let me know if there's something that might have done wrong?
I'm fairly confident that all of my hardware is working, since the dvd player displayed the video just fine.
Thanks in advance -- Jasper

Re: no sound on burned dvd

get an free app called dvd imager....drag the VIDEO_TS file into that n make a .img file..then burn that .img with disc utility (from the images pull down not the burn button..somehow that does not work well)

OR get Burn for Mac set that to Data and DVD (UDF) and you can burn the VIDEO_TS file directly. however some players will not be able to read that so burning a disc image (.img) is a more reliable way to go.

it took me a long while to get the burning straight..be patient...also get VLC to watch stuff on your mac but be sure to get the correct version for your OS or you will have big hassles.

(oh and share more....your ratio is lame)

^^ all this good stuff..

burn as a 'data disc' or 'backup image'
chances are your burn choice had issues dealing with the audio codec

DVD's come with no audio for ratios below 0.5. It's in the tracker software.

thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'll look into the 3rd party software you suggested and follow your instructions.
I've got vlc, so viewing is no problemo. We had a house party the other week and I wanted to show some GNR and it didnt work in the player.
I'll work on getting my ratio up.
I use limewire and it stops when the file is done. If I can get better results with bt, then I'll switch.
Thanks again--Jasper

Thanks again for the info.
I've downloaded dvd imager and I'm working on burning a disc.
It's been nearly 12 hours and it still says "working"
How long does it normally take.
I've used Toast to create watchable dvds, but it never takes this long
Thanks again--Jasper

12 hours? sounds like it is re-encoding the video

Thanks for the reply.
I was thinking the same thing. I figured since Toast re encodes any video file to make it playable for a proper dvd player, so what's the point of the freeware if it's taking this long?
I opened toast and it gave me the option to burn from a video_ts folder and it worked fine within a more reasonable timeframe.

Re: no sound on burned dvd

dvd imager should take less than five minutes for a standard dvd...then one burns the img file
