Re: Video playback software

fwiw VLC carries its own codecs & doesn't change your system codec setup whatsoever. at least that's how it used to be. VLC never screwed up my system, I just stopped using it when their seek bar got all jerky. downgraded.

MPC you have to install codecs the usual way.

I think the codecs are missing that played them before I ran into trouble with VLC. May download the updated codecs pack from power dvd/Cyberlink.
Time for a shot of Jack and a cold one.
I don't think it's a codec problem. Power DVD wouldn't have played any DVD if that would've been the problem. Although I met weird met bootlegs DVDs. Once a DVD had an AC3 audio, but at the middle of the show, for less than 10 seconds, had mp2 audio.

Re: Video playback software

Have you tried a CD/DVD lens cleaner? Maybe it's just picked up a speck of dust that's interfering with reading some discs.

you ought buy more gear

(and thanks for the prompt reply James)
I've narrowed it down. The discs that won't play are all the same brand and from the same person that I B&P'd from. They are also transfers from vhs. Everything else works fine.

daddyrayoll, where would I be without you?
Remember the disc that I got from you?
I now consider it a national treasure.
Watching it now. owe u again.

Re: Video playback software

I've never had any issues over the past years regarding being able to see video output on any formats, but recently dl'ed the http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...ad.php?t=78016

show and am getting no sound or video trying to watch it on VLC? Can watch everything else on the hard drive fine, and yes my speakers are working.

I'm at a loss.
Any help appreciated.
Peace
