Connection error

I am trying to get the Todd 5/23/78 show using uTorrent (DHT disabled) and I am getting an error that says "Connection limit exceeded! You may only download/leech 5 shows at a time.e.".

The problem is that this is the only show that I am attempting to DL/leech. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be?

edit to add: If you think someone has your passkey, go here and then make sure you redownload any torrents you have (since none of the old ones will update your stats anymore): http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...php?do=passkey

Re: Connection error

Thanks for the suggestions. I thought that seeding activity and leeching activity were separate. Those five listed are all seeds. I'll stop one and update the tracker.

Re: Connection error

I stopped "Do It Again" and rechecked the tracker and the torrent started right up. Does the tracker count seeds and leeches together or does it think that I am still leeching those other shows? I've got 100% and seeding on my end for all of them.

Re: Connection error

the tracker monitors your uploads and downloads from this site

but the client error would be on the utorrent side

to my knowledge there is no maximum of torrents you can download/upload at a time

- although, one guy tried doing 75 torrents once so if there is one..its like 25

Re: Connection error

Actually, it is because of that one guy who tried to download 75 torrents at once that we now have tracker limits. From the FAQ (http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/faq.php?faq=bittorrent#faq_connection_limit):

"Connection limit exceeded! You may only download/leech x shows at a time"

BitTorrents works by you downloading from one person and then uploading to another. In a perfect world, you would upload just as much as you download (and have a 1.0 ratio). In order to try to achive this, you really should be download/uploading on a whole lot of torrents. This means that it will take you forever to download those shows (and inconvenience the seeders since they have to stay on that torrent so long to finish you off) and it means you aren't going to be uploading much since your bandwidth is taken up with all your downloads. So, we are limiting people to downloading only x shows at a time. You may, however, upload (seed) as many shows as you want at a time. But, keep in mind that it is best to seed only a few shows at a time to give people a good download rate from you.

Currently, the following is in affect:

* downloaded less than 10 GB - may only download 5 shows at a time
* less than 0.50 ratio and downloaded over 10 GB- may only download 5 shows at a time
* less than 0.60 ratio and downloaded over 10 GB- may only download 6 shows at a time
* less than 0.70 ratio and downloaded over 10 GB- may only download 7 shows at a time

This is subject to change if we happen to notice people abusing the system. Also, if you register another username just to download more shows, you can be banned from the site.

Re: Connection error

This is all good info, but I still don't understand why it wouldn't let me d/l the show when all I had going was five seeds.

strange. try this..

if all the dl/ul are from this site - stop and remove the torrent from the client.
(not the folder - just the file from the torrent client window)

this will not delete any of your completed or partial shows.

close the client - restart client and reselect/download the torrent file for each show again.

make sure you point each torrent to its original location on your workstation.

the torrent client will recheck the files and proceed to dl/ul each one.

its gonna take a few clicks.. but you are stuck right now - it should do the trick.
