PC reboots every hour

Since a month now my desktop computer automatically reboots exactly on the hour, independent of when I start it. So even if I start my PC on 5 minutes before 9, it will reboot at 9. The OS is windows 8.

The computer gives a message: 'an error was found and the computer must be restarted. An error report will be generated and sent. If you want to know more about the problem search under Registry-error.'

So I tried several things:
CCleaner
Eusing free registry cleaner (which even after CCleaner found hundreds of 'problems' and fixed them)
AVG antivirus
Malwarebytes Anti-malware

But none of them has fixed the problem.
I didn't download any software or music or whatever, the only thing I did shortly before the problems began is that I online downloaded office on a second computer, while the license is only for one computer. But surely, that can't cause this troubles?

Re: PC reboots every hour

Before throwing all kinds of cleaners at your pc, you should figure out what is causing this.

May be this could help too

Re: PC reboots every hour

This could be the cause as well, the new Hybrid Shutdown feature.

good luck!

Re: PC reboots every hour

Well, the hybrid shutdown and the adjusting of the register didn't work. But there is an error message in the eventviewer every hour, so the first method you mentioned might give some answers.

Re: PC reboots every hour

Man, and I thought mine was bad when it would do that 2 or 3 times a day (although never on a "schedule"). Luckily my problem was easily fixed with a new power supply.

Re: PC reboots every hour

Well, one learns to save very regularly

Thx for the tip Allanon, I will keep it in mind. I speak and talk German well. But first I am going to try if I can find out what's causing it, with the help of the link Jabulon advised.

Over here we go there to see a movie, but it stands for Basic Input/Output System, software used to communicate between your Operating system and the hardware.

Re: PC reboots every hour

I'm Dutch (as well?), so I do know what a bios is. We even have a subscription, so we go as often as we can.

Notes Re: PC reboots every hour

IMO . . . boot into the safe mode, (Windows 7) choose the networking option, and then run your cleaners . . . while in the safe mode . . . sounds like a bot . . .

Re: PC reboots every hour

From a "Computer Reboots Every Hour" Microsoft Community thread:
"I know this is an old post, but my reply may help someone else coming across this post with this issue. My symptom was exactly the same as Anbisja here. My PC shut down anywhere between 15 minutes and 18 minutes after the hour all day today. It was roughly every 61 minutes for about 8 or 9 hours. I scanned my PC with Kaspersky's TDSSKiller. It found a "medium" risk - sptd.sys in my windows\system32\drivers folder. I couldn't find very much info on the risk online, but I decided to delete it anyway using TDSSKiller. After that, no more reboots. The reason i doubted it was any kind of heating issue was because of how consistently the reboot was happening every hour. A PC doesn't get hot every hour for 8 or 9 hours in a row. If it restarts from overheating, it should do it again within a few minutes. Anyway, hopefully this helps someone else out there.
-Chris"
