Question Problems with an upload.

I was going to share a show here last night but the upload page told me that my ffp's weren't ffp's so I gave up and went to bed. I decided to try again this morning but now it won't let me upload the torrent file. I'm guessing that it won't allow me to upload the torrent file because last night's attempted upload is still in the system, but I don't understand why my ffp's were rejected. The show was the Sean Jones Quartet and here's what the ffp's look like:

When copy and pasting those ffp's failed I tried to delete the ffp's of the pics, but that didn't work either.

Only run the ffps on the music file.

Those are md5s, not ffps. http://www.thetradersden.org/forums/...=audio#faq_md5

Re: Problems with an upload.

Thanks. I didn't know that md5's were frowned upon. I've got an .ffp and a .md5 in the folder but a text file of only the .md5. It's being seeded at dime and I don't want to change any of the folders contents, so can I create a text file of the .ffp and save it outside of the folder (and not include it with the torrent)?

Also, it won't allow me to upload the .torrent file so is that because the original upload is still in the system?

Re: Problems with an upload.

Yes, you can also include a text ffp if you want. Anything you add to a torrent folder once it's seeding won't affect the dime version. You could also pause the dime version and move things around while you make a new torrent file for TTD.

Re: Problems with an upload.

You may open an .ffp file using a text editor - it *is* a text file.

Re: Problems with an upload.

I'm learning lots of new stuff! I had no idea that a .ffp could also be opened as a text file, because whenever I clicked on them in the past Trader's Little Helper would automatically open up to verify the checksum.

Also, I thought that .st5's were old technology since they include [shntool] in the filename. I assumed that .st5's were for .shn's, .ffp's were for flacs, and I thought that .md5's were the best since they're included with video downloads, so now I know better. Thanks!

Re: Problems with an upload.

From the way I understand it, an md5 can change for a flac if anyone tampers with the flac tagging - a ffp will stay the same if someone modifies the tagging - that's why ffp's are best for flac files. Of course, if you change flac tags, you also can't seed the files anymore, but that's something else!

The md5 checksum will work to verify video files, or just about anything else. I wouldn't say they're "frowned upon"... They're great for some kinds of files, but other files have better technology available...
