DAT? MD? or mp3? 16Khz mirror but no blocks.

DAT? MD? or mp3? 16Khz mirror but no obvious blocks.

Just picked this up in a snail-mail trade. SBD is all I get for lineage. I'm hopeful that this looks good to folks.

taygan.

looks like a recent FM, kind of thing the BBC broadcasts these days. ppl are generally tolerant of these, and they crop up on bt sites often.

mirroring could be from a card that records at 48kHz and downsamples to 44.1 (?) no noise at the top whatsoever that I can see.

does it sound like an FM? if you want to up a sample I'll listen to it

It's Trip Shakespeare 1993-05-01 South Dakota.

Here's a few samples.

The first one has a crazy spectrum spikes on audacity that I didn't notice before.

I'm pretty sure this is a recent FM (sure sounds & looks it). Perhaps a rebroadcast?? I discovered that there is a tiny bit of noise in the highs, so I believe it is an analog capture, done of one of those cards (like SBLive) that does A>D at 48kHz and downsamples to 44.1kHz causing the mirroring effect. The little spikes look like audio cdr artifacts, some little scuffs on the cdr but inaudible to these ears. no sign of blocks, just the abrupt cutoff, ppl seed these type of shows all the time at lossless-only sites.

Five, you are amazing. I've since found out that the original tape was Soundboard DAT by a local small radio station DJ, who then broadcast it a few times. I assume this is a capture of one of those broadcasts. I was looking for the carrier, are there US stations that don't broadcast carrier waves, or do you think it was stripped in the capture/transfer?

thanks! ... I have no idea where the carrier is, I would expect to see it there so it was either stripped or maybe captured from some source (perhaps rf cable?) that doesn't have the carrier. Not certain at all about that, but it looks like all of the audio content aside from the carrier is intact.
