Re: Laptop, Windows related Question

If you go the Mac route you can run Excel/Word in a VM. VirtualBox is excellent and free, VMWare Fusion and Parallels Desktop are commercial but maybe more polished. As long as you have enough RAM the performance is more than acceptable but you can always boot into Windows via Boot Camp if you prefer.

Re: Laptop, Windows related Question

Yep, though it seems VB 3.0 isn't ready for prime time at least on OS X so 2.2.4 might be a safer bet at the mo. I ran a version a while back and it was great but at that time at least it couldn't use a Boot Camp partition as a VM so I went for a beta of Fusion which still does the job.

Re: Laptop, Windows related Question

Must have been an accident. I'm sure they won't let it happen again.

Before springing for either, give NeoOffice a spin and see if it covers whatever functions of MS Office that you need.

I've no experience with macs, but I had no trouble with EAC on Ubuntu linux/wine. The appdb lists no problems with recent EAC/wine versions

Re: Laptop, Windows related Question

I have the luxury of triple-booting on my Intel Macs so I've never really tried all that hard with wine but it's certainly a hell of a lot easier on Ubuntu.
