Not to be a nit-picker, but how about spelling "occurred" right on the next release.....?

Re: Trader's Little Helper

I think one of the helper programs needs to be updated too. I cannot make a .ffp or verify files for certain types of .flac files. I'm using TLH v.2.7.0 build 172. I don't think that TLH checks to see if the helper programs are up to date. The latest .flac.exe is v.1.3.1. TLH installs v.1.2.1. I believe that shntool is also out of date.

I only use TLH as my second choice for various tasks with lossless files. I'm sure that other folks will run into this problem with newer .flac files as time goes by.

Thanks

Could you be a bit more specific (what "certain types of .flac files" are you talking about, are there any TLH error messages, for example)?

Sorry, I thought mentioning that the helper programs were out of date was info enough.

For instance, with .flac encoded 5.1 LPCM Surround Sound Mix (48k) TLH reports that .flac "is not supported." TLH also reports "No errors occured." (sic).

TLH will create a valid .ffp checksum. It will not verify the .ffp. Verifying with up to date files works fine. I believe that metaflac.exe is the helper program that is the issue. I don't have time to check right now.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the details! metaflac.exe isn't involved in verifying .ffp files. It's shntool.exe (no matter what release) that cannot handle this format...

Re: Trader's Little Helper

Like I said in my earlier post, they verify with the .ffp except in TLH.

So I wrote a Windows tool/frontend I called Trader's Little Helper. It was not written to be the perfect "all in one wonder" but to handle the most important tasks.

Development isn't finished yet (version 0.8.0), but there are a lot of things this tool already has to offer:

- verify & create checksum files (md5 signature, flac fp, md5 fp)
- test flac and ape files
- decode ape, flac, shn files
- list file details (looking for sector boundary errors)

Features to come in the next versions:
- encode wav files to ape, flac, shn
- fix sector boundary errors
- integration via context menu in windows explorer
- drag & drop functionality
- ???

It would be perfect if Trader's Little Helper could decode mkw files too. Unfortunately I didn't found any information about this file format, and the author of mkw/mkwACT can't be contacted (mkwACT homepage is down, email address doesn't work any more). So if you have any information about mkw, please contact me.

I've decided to make my prog public. You can download it here:

http://thor.prohosting.com/roh0205

Any feedback is appreciated! If there are some good icons out there (for the application itself or those md5, ffp, st5 checksum files) please let me know.

Robert
I just found this page and post...i want to say thank you for this awesome little program.

Well, this would take a long time...

About five years after the last release for me a new release would make sense only if installer skript, GUI, and many internal parts of TLH would be updated or rewritten. And a help file would be great.

For testing all the (pre-)alpha/beta/rc releases a lot of testers would be needed, because I don't have the time to test all this extensively with Windows releases from XP to 10 (32/64-bit). Plus I'd need some assistance writing the help file.

So, any volunteers?

Is there a simply way to update only SHN, LAME and FLAC decoder that are a little bit old especially FLAC encoder?

I will be happy to help you test releases!
