Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

I've noticed some folks have been able to use software to detect that a particular audio show had been compressed and was therefore unsuitable.

I received several Steely Dan shows in past snail trades and they are complete with cover art which denotes lineage. However, these arrived on CDRs so I couldn't say for sure that the person who sent them didn't make these from mp3s. I highly doubt it, but you never know.

How should I go about checking these discs and is this an acceptable seed?

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

You should take a look at the links posted at the top of the Lossy or Lossless forum. The links will talk about how to do a Spectral and Frequency Analysis and how to read what you are seeing.

I think you should be fine. The album is going to have been mastered differently than a bootleg.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Shouldn't there be an explanation when a show is pulled?

Usually there is, but I think Bill figured it had already been written in the posts about the video released. I completely forgot about that one (sorry - I don't have the video, so it slipped my mind!).

I hope I don't sound like an ass here because I don't have a lot invested in this and I'm not even that big of a U2 fan. I just feel bad for the 76 people stuck with part of show. But I really don't see what a 28 year old VHS tape of only part of a concert has to do with the full audio recording. If U2 really cared about this obviously popular show they've had almost 30 yrs to release it. Maybe whoever pulled it could explain it in more detail.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Hello

I need some help to start seeding...

When I'm downloading a torrent, it is uploading same time.
But when the download is complete, the uploading stops.

What must I do to keep uploading the torrent?
I don't want to be a "problematic user" like some others...

Please, can someone help me with that?

You should start your own thread so this question doesn't get lost in this thread. Basically, you need to set up your bittorrent client to continue to seed/upload after your downloading has stopped. You didn't mention what bittorrent client you use, so I can't give specifics. When you start your own thread, be sure to mention your bittorrent client.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

Hey, I'll start a torrent, I follow all steps in the list.

But I don't know, how can I get the text fingerprints that you put on the thread??
I created the .ffp already, but the text?

I think it is necessary because you all put it on the first post...

You can open the .ffp file in a texteditor such as notepad and then you can copy/paste the fingerprints into the upload page.

Re: Seeding/Lineage Questions?

I have a few shows I'd like to upload here, but I have no lineage for them. I can't even find them anywhere else to see if there is a definite lineage. The shows are the Paul Butterfield Blues Band from 09-30-1966 and 01-18-1969. Does anyone know anything about these shows, or if I can upload them at all?
