Burning question(big problem) Still!!!!

Ok folks,
I downloaded my first show(Peter Rowan and Tony Rice) and watched it on WinDVD. Now, using roxio MyDvd, version 6, that came with my new PC, everytime I try to add or drag a file to the dvd creator I get the following message "Runtime error:number_of_programs out of range -3". I have no idea what this message means. all I know is that it wont let me burn. Can anyone offer some help? I've checked the forum for other "downloading" issues but didn't find this one.
Peace

Re: Burning question(big problem)

Dont use any of those automated Roxio programs. Just do a simple dvd video. Then drage the entire VIDEO_TS folder to the disc.

Re: Burning question(big problem)

Thanks for the quick responce but I'm a bit confused. This is the only program I have on my PC (roxio) and going into the creator is the only way I see to make the disc. what am I missing?

Re: Please Help

first off dont burn using windows media center. Use an actual burning program (ie roxio or nero)

You have to make sure you burn as VIDEO DVD, not data.

Re: Please Help

well if i bought a pc with a dvd burner, there has to be a program on here that i can use as is, rather then spending more money. i just don't understand why i can watch the dvd perfect on the pc and access the menu and chapters but it isn't burning right.

Re: Burning question(big problem) Still!!!!

You must have another burning program or do you have the Deluxe version that creates CDs also. I think the way you need to go with this POS software is import a DVD created by another program.

Re: Please Help

What are the other options you get when you go to burn it? It sounds like you just burned a Data DVD (what you would do to archive the show or to archive a bunch of documents or shn/flac files), not a Video DVD (which is what your DVD player will want).

Re: Please Help

Microsoft did not want you to be able to easily make DVDs their friends in the entertainment world would be upset, seems you are not alone with this problem. Though I would think there is a way since the burning engine is the same as Roxio.
http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=62499

I found MCE to be nothing more than a fancy menu system sitting on top of XP Home, making it unable to connect to a proper network like XP Pro why I wouldn't want my media center to connect to my server and the rest of my network I can't understand but that's MS for you.
