Is the name of the site set in stone?

I know this is a tired conversation but Boot/Bootleg has a negative connotation for about 90% of the tapers I know. I don't feel as strongly about it as some but I do think that many tapers (from ts.com for example) will be turned off by it.

I love the site, had been shown a beta version way back when and have seeded masters here since it went live. This morning I came to post a torrent and I thought hackers were at working messing around. I don't mean to start anything, I'm still going to post here for now but I did want to put that out there.

Re: Is the name of the site set in stone?

I have to say I agree. The Trader's Den was a great name. Anything "boot" related has a bad image to me. I'll keep checking the place out still.

Re: Is the name of the site set in stone?

Yeah, I gotta agree with the negative conotations of "bootleg" or "boot city".Im not adverse to change but I thought we had a nice, small, little intimate trading community here and for what it's worth, am not thrilled about the "merger".I think,if anything, things will become more "diluted" here and Ive never had any problems with TDD whatsoever.Im not the "sharpest tool in the shed" but I just dont think this is the best idea.Again, just my opinion and what do I know?

Question Where did the Traders Den GO?...what's in a name?

Hey

so I went to sleep last nite while on vacation...
and got up to see what new exciting torrents were up'ed in my sleep at the traders den
and now my friendly named Traders den with the nice black background
is now this hideous organgy-brown with some wired new name logo that reminds me of some strange college football jersey...

I read this "Bootcity and The Traders Den are happy to announce the merging of these two wonderful sites. As you know, the Admins and Mods of the two sites have been close since the sites started, so it was only natural for the two sites to finally decide to join together. We have not worked out all the details on how to best merge the two databases together, but are hard at work discussing it. As soon as that detail is worked out, we will make a thread to get input from all of you and what the best features of the two sites are so we can make the best site possible."

on the forums page but should this not be on the splash page? like all of the moving server info...

I thought I got to the wrong site? ...or some hackers got in..... I checked again...

I also Feel that boot (Bootleg) refers to some kind of illegal activity
I am an Archivest!
and many bands here allow recording of their music some only Audio & some video

Why did Boot City overtake the name of the traders den?
a den sounds so much more cozy then a city....

any way I see there is another similar thread.... but

What's in a name?

my 2¢
is to keep the name of
the Traders (implies: sharing)
Den (implies: cozy room to feel comfortable)
thanx

and keep up the great work!

Re: April Fools

I'll admit I've been had.

I even read the first few posts of April Fools before I started this thread and wasn't paying attention to it pertaining to the name of the site or that fact that it's 4-1.

Good call, the font also evokes the Old West, so I think it looks like the jerseys of the Cucamonga College Cowflops, who are so famous for the bootleg play on fourth and goal.

Re: April Fools

I for 1 certainly hope it's the annual April Fools stunt(last years was a return to the sharing the groove home page if i remember correctly ).
If its not & you are merging ,which i suppose is a possibility..change the crap board colour & the name.
"City Of Boot Traders" indeed ......wellington,chelsea,hockey & pussin

Could of been a bit more original this year guys

When we were just setting up this site, we could NOT think of a name. Finally Stephen suggested The Traders' Den and we all thought the same thing you did - Sharing and Cozy.
