Question How many downloaders still burn to CD?

Looking back at my uploads from a few years back, and struck by how many were arranged for two CDs, with fades inserted to make neat beginnings and ends to the discs.

These days, I listen to filesets with players like Foobar or Logitech Media Server, but I also noticed some recent uploaders including CD-style artwork with their uploads.

Who still burns to CD once they've downloaded?

Re: How many downloaders still burn to CD?

Haven't burned a CD in years. All Flac and Mp3. Things don't look good for the DVD either. Still the best form of back up, but with external hard drives, it is starting to feel like VHS tape used to be.

Re: How many downloaders still burn to CD?

If one selects neither of the above it would be nice to see an explanation.

I mainly use LMS. If listening just to check quality I use Winamp or Foobar

Same here, I don't burn shows for my own listening because my media / stereo is all married.

But I do burn CDs for my friends' cars and older folks who wouldn't know what to do with FLAC (or care)

I have burned audio CDR's for friends and family for gifting, etc. before...
I do listen to FLAC files on the computer with Foobar2000...

I also load a Sansa e280 running RockBox firmware to have a portable player for FLAC on the super cheap. Drag and drop some files on it's internal memory or a microSDHC card, and boom!

Re: How many downloaders still burn to CD?

"Routinely" isn't really correct for me, but I occasionally burn to cd. I always burn all of the shows that I tape to cd but when it comes to shows that I've downloaded I'll only burn them to cd if I give it away to someone or if I want a copy for my car. My car stereo can play usb thumb drives but I still prefer cd's in the car.

Re: How many downloaders still burn to CD?

I wouldn't say I burn "routinely," but I burn maybe half of what I record. It's easier to listen in the car, since my stereo doesn't play FLACs, so I'd have to convert to mp3, which is a pain. Plus I'd have to tag the files, which I don't want to bother with.
