Filesharing

Many share files outside of TTD and other sites.

It seems that many people are now using WeTransfer instead of Dropbox.

What are your thoughts on each, is there really a difference ?

Re: Filesharing

Both work fine but often slow.

Your control of the sharing is an advantage depending on what you are sharing...

Re: Filesharing

I don't like dropbox (don't want to install something to get files from you)
I don't like wetransfer (don't like the short time for file life hosting there)
I don't like Mega (sometimes files hang and never finish downloading)
I don't like filefactory (had problems uploading once...)

I like to send people files via public "private" torrents. My upload bandwidth sucks, but I also keep seeding whatever I download in perpetuity forever if I can. If I have to upload to a file host site, I have to shut down uTorrent, and I don't like to do that. So, I prefer incorporating the 1 : 1 private shares I need to do with the torrents I'm already upping. I make a torrent file with DHT and peer exchange and all that kind of stuff enabled, and put in a few public trackers, and send my friend the torrent file in an email or whatever. They start it, I seed it, they download it. Easy. no random file host to bounce your files off of! haha

So, try that!

Re: Filesharing

http://www.filemail.com is also a good site. It's free, doesn't require any sign up, and you can send huge files (I received a single 26 GB file with filemail).

Re: Filesharing

Never liked DropBox, I think it got better but I prefer wetransfer for anything under 2GB. Mega for larger stuff or files I want to host for longer than a week. My Air Bridge is good for up to 20GB but only lasts 48 hours, so its perfect for sending video masters to someone who is ready to take them.

File send has several download options, direct download via browser, torrent, or use their program.

I agree that this site is the best one.. though I used it several time I know that my friends are fond of it and it doesn't show a lot of annoying adds and stuff.

With Dropbox, I upload at 10MB/sec and download even faster. This is with a home (fiber-optic) internet account. At $12/mth for 2TBs, it works out well for me as I probably average receiving/sending around 500GBs a month.
